My Mission: Sharing Light and Hope Through Art

Hi, I'm Tiina, the artist behind Tiina Alanen Art. Creating art is my healing power and light, and I would like to share that strength, the light of life and hope with you.

I love combining realistic and abstract elements, colors, and layers as you can see in my paintings. I want them to be happy and full of hope and love.

My Artistic Journey

I graduated as a graphic designer and drawing, painting and photography have always been a part of my life. Painting has become more and more important to me, and a few years ago I completed my visual arts studies. Nowadays I teach visual arts a few days a week and the rest of the time I paint.

Inspired by Finnish Nature

I paint mainly with acrylic colors and also with watercolors. Many of my paintings are inspired by nature. I live in Finland where the lakes and forests that surround me, and all four seasons give me endless inspiration - from cold winter days with snow to bright spring, the summer with the warmest wind and blooming flowers, to the colorful autumn leaves. They are my endless inspiration and healing power.

Why I Create: A Story of Light and Loss

There is another reason why I paint and create art.

In 2019, my family and I lost one of our sons. He was 14 years old, full of life and joy, with a happy twinkle in his eyes. Then suddenly, due to a car accident, he spent a week in intensive care. We prayed and hoped, but at the end of that September week, an angel took him to Heaven.

"Some bring so much light into the world that the light remains long after they are gone."

There are no words to describe all that we experienced during those days and after.

Finding Beauty in Brokenness

I read somewhere that in Japan, broken things are often fixed with gold. A flaw is seen as a unique piece of the object's history that adds to its beauty.

When parents lose their children, they are no longer afraid because they have already faced their worst fears. But like those broken things mended with gold, life can become beautiful again with wonderful colors and light. You'll find golden memories in your heart.

Art as Healing and Joy

I create art because it is a form of therapy and also captures memories and emotions. It's a wonderful feeling to create something unprecedented on a blank canvas or paper, mix colors and see what's coming into the world - it gives so much happiness and joy!

The same joy and uplifting moments I wish to bring you with my paintings.

Let the light remain.
